A Visit from Chalee

I'm going to borrow an idea from Renee Garcia's and Jessica Higgins' blogs. They both post cute conversations and quotes from their kids and hearing their "kids say the darndest things" moments always makes me laugh and laugh.

So today my Chalee came to visit me at the shop and our conversation went like this...

Me: Chalee, You're getting so tall! You're just growing up too fast...I want you to stay little!

Chalee: Aa (that's what she calls me) I have to grow up soon so that I can go to school!

Me: Where are you going to school at?

Chalee: I'm going to Kimder-garden at Dibrell.

Me: What are you going to do in Kimder-garden? Are you going to learn to read and write?

Chalee: Yup...I know my ABC's already!

Me: Are you going to learn numbers and adding?

Chalee: No Aa...they don't have numbers at Dibrell. But they have cups!

LOL...I love that kid! I hope she'll learn a little bit about numbers when she goes to school though...and I really don't know what the "cups" comment was about!

While she was at the shop she had to "help" me of course! Here she is "helping" to wrap a Christmas order...I was actually kind of impressed at her ability to go through the motions of wrapping.

A new baby

JonCollin James Womack was born on Thursday, July 24, 2008 to my cousin Jonathan Womack and his wife Shelly.

He's very cute...see?

You all know how special Chalee (big sister) is to me...I don't think this new baby will change that at all. He's sweet and all, but she's still my baby! Thank goodness that she is very excited to have a baby brother. She greets everyone right now with "Baby brother is out of Mommy's belly now! and he's here. His name is Collin James."
So here are some pictures from Thursday...enjoy!

Chalee kept poking and touching the baby and it was making her daddy sooo nervous.

Not Just For the Mommies and Daddies...

We have a new line of new baby products for grandparents and older siblings...it's not always just about the mommies and daddies, you know. For now we have photo albums (brag books), frames, and scrap book type album/journals.
There are more and more young grandmothers out there so I like that this album isn't old fashioned or a baby-ish theme that is limited to just a baby...I think this album is kind of hip and I also think that it will grow with the baby - so the grandma can use this album to show off her grandkids' pictures way past their first year.

Same goes for this picture frame...it isn't limited to a certain theme or sex...and its very neutral which is always good to go with any home decor.

This is Chalee when she visited us the other day...This is her in the middle of explaining to me that I shouldn't just be taking pictures of things...."you're suppose to take pictures of people, Ashley," she said.

Then the second she realized that I was taking HER picture...she started posing...she really is related to me, huh?
So, to make her happy, I took her picture holding one of the things that I needed a picture of. It's appropriate considering she will be a big sister very soon! She's very excited about her new baby, though it makes her just a little nervous. I keep reminding her that this new baby won't replace her for me though...she'll always be my favorite!
Here's a closeup of the book. It's like a baby book from the big sister's (and brother's) point of view.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Mom turns 56 today, so make sure to tell her Happy Birthday if you see her. As I've said before; she's the best mom that I could ask for but, even better than that, she's one of my best friends and we can talk about anything together. I'm very glad that I have her! I hope the rest of today is great for her!

Her day has already been made once today though. Chalee came to visit and ran in the door saying "HAPPY BIR-DAY AUNT HENEN!!!" and gave her a big hug and kiss! She also went back to our play kitchen and made mom a pretend cake and some pretend sweet tea!

"I Winned, I Winned Ashley!"

That's what Chalee exclaimed to me after she accepted her trophy at the Dibrell School Spring Pageant! She won overall in her division of the pageant!

Ok, so she was the only little girl in her division...but I like to think that when everyone heard that Chalee was going to be in the pageant, they just didn't show up because they knew that she was going to win!

She was wearing a cute pink sleeveless dress by Will Beth and we have dresses very much like this one for those of you who need a simple but elegant dress for the spring.

and just a couple more pics...here she is in her new Hello Kitty sunglasses that we gave her for being in the pageant. I think they compliment the dress great; don't you think?

Chalee and her "Aunt Henen"

And the dandelions are "fairies" to her...

Chalee and her proud daddy, Johnathan Womack.

Chalee can't figure out how to curtsy...but this is her attempting it!

Jeepers Creepers...

We have lots of sunglasses...

A couple of the styles are made smaller for the little ones (see Chalee above) but the majority of them are for those of us with bigger heads...

They're so trendy and cute...I'm thinking about snatching up at least two of the styles...heehee.

Cute details...

The Women's and Children's Health and Wellness Fair

Every year, this day of health screenings, give-aways, spring fashion and good old fashioned family fun is held at the Three Star Mall. It is sponsored by Riverpark Hospital and I think they really really out-did themselves with this year's event! The crowd was huge and there were lots of vendors there to keep them entertained! Right behind our booth there were a bunch of bunch of really cool video games that the mall had moved in just for today...all the kids (two pictured above...haha) had fun spending their quarters on!

I set up a booth for the shop, of course, where I showed off the new spring Crocs and did a little bit of advertising. It's good sometimes to go somewhere else and show off the merchandise when we get the chance!
Junior Auxiliary also had a booth right next to mine, which was super-convenient; I could work at both of them! I want to thank Caitlin McClain, our newly-crowned Junior Miss Warren County for coming out today to represent JA. She was beautiful and so good with all the little kids who wanted to talk to "the princess"! She really really made us look good! I can't wait to work with her more this year!

Ashley's Attic was also involved in the Spring Fashion Show. Miss Emily Hobbs organized it this year (I've done it for the past 5 years or so) and she did a WONDERFUL job. I was so excited to actually get to watch it a little bit this year. I think she ran it a little more smoothly than I ever could...maybe she just commands more obedience in the little kids running all over the place than I can! Brandi Mansfield over at Dream Custom Artwork emceed the fashion show and she was really good under pressure...things did get just a little crazy up there, as it always is with a big group of people!
Our models were wonderful...Chalee, Alyssa, Aliza, Kora, RheaLee, Bralyn, Chelsey, Tori, Lauren and Caitlin. Thanks to all of them for being so great and their mommies and daddies and grandparents for helping me out so much today!
Here are a few pictures from the day...

Queens for a Cure, my other group, also had a booth set up. Miss Paula Wanamaker was holding a bake sale and even though I didn't get to go over there and help out; I did buy some cupcakes...her banana bread cupcakes with honey cinnamon icing were AWESOME...Oh Goodness! Chalee and I both love love love loved them! The proof is here in the following picture...Chalee was "saving some for later" on her chin I think!

Chalee's Art...

At the shop yesterday, we got a visit from Chalee. She is my favorite cousin, Jonathan Womack's daughter, also my cousin, but I like to call her my niece. She just feels more like a niece than a cousin. I'm crazy about that kid...she's two and hilarious! Anyway, she was here yesterday and we kept hearing the sounds coming from Roxie and Darla's remodeling and reconstruction. Chalee, being the creative soul that she is, decided that there were elephants next door making all of that noise....Biiiig elephants, she said! The sander does sound a little like an elephant trumpeting, I'll give her that!

We sat down to color and she asked me to draw her an elephant, and then another, and another. She told me that they were the daddy elephant, the mommy elephant and the Chalee elephant. She also drew her own elephant in the lower right hand corner that she said was the sister elephant (Chalee's mommy is having a new baby in July....Chalee is obsessed with sisters now). She wanted to give this drawing to Seth and had me to write out his name and his parents' names so she could "copy" them. She also let me label everything else while she was drawing it...so that I would be able to tell Seth about it later! It was so cute, so detailed and had such a cute story behind it that I just wanted to share it with all of you!
