Sweet Claire (on the right) has been saving up her money to buy the Calico Critters Country Tree House. When she saw our coupon in the Easter Sunday edition of the Southern Standard, she knew that now was the time to make the purchase!

Here she is with her sister Caroline after buying the tree house. These are truly a couple of Ashley's Attic girls! Check out their Necklines initial necklaces, Athens-style flip flop Crocs and the monkey bookmarks that they're posing with!

While at Market in July, Mom ordered this great book line. They're all inspirational, fun and thoughtful peeks into our everyday lives. Add these to your list of great gifts for any occasion, any age!

Look through these titles and then come to the shop and see all of the others that we have. In addition to the books, there are also desk calendars (see below), journals and cookbooks.

Reassurance

I remember when my parents use to go out and leave me with a babysitter. Most of those times I would absolutely FREAK OUT...for some reason I had in my mind that they were going to get "kidnapped" and I would worry about that almost the entire time!

Just in time for Valentine's Day for your little sweethearts...

It's called Mommy Will Always Come Home and the author wrote it to calm her kids' fears when she had to leave them at home. The book comes complete with a cuddly heart-shaped pillow (comes in pink or green) and a mini back-pack to carry it in (like when the kids go visit grandma).

The pillow is great, too, because mom (or dad) can cuddle a bit with the pillow so that it smells like them as just another comfort thing for the kids.

We love educational toys that inspire kids to be creative and to make their own entertainment. 

Books definitely count there...especially books that are interactive like the ones pictured above and below. This is only a few of the new books we just got in at the shop! We got in this new line of fun books that educate and entertain and we're so excited to share them with all of our customers.

Change is STRANGE

I love finding unique gift items for kids that nobody else has! I also love companies that understand that and try to create just that sort of stuff!

So, I found this line of books at Market and just fell in love!

The line is called Change is Strange and all the books focus on dealing with big changes happening in the lives of little ones.

With titles like "No More Pacifier", "Mommy and Daddy are Going on a Trip", "My First Day of School", "We're Having a Baby" and "We're Moving"...they cover almost every 'rite of passage' that a little one has to go through!

The books have bright colors and really vivid illustrations...I just know the kids will love them!

The company also makes 'survival kits' with the same titles. They contain the book along with some other "coping supplies".

I think these will make great gifts for the kids.

I really wish that I had known about these books when my Chalee had to give up her pacifier (she called it her tootoo)...I'm pretty sure the emotional scarring was deep. You read about it in this post...they told her that the dog had eaten it but I'm pretty sure she was convinced that Jordin Tootoo from the Predators had a little something to do with it! I could have read her the book and calmed her nerves maybe!

J.A. Book Giveaway

Come join me at the Junior Auxiliary Booth
this Saturday,
August 2nd
for the 2nd annual J.A. Book Giveaway during
Warren County School System's Back-to-School Kickoff
at Three Star Mall from 9am until noon.

Through this project, we are able to distribute hundreds of books to children from all over the community. Every child that visits our booth can pick out one book that they like to take home with them.

Last year, for our first time around, we collected and distributed over 300 books free to kids who came by our booth at the event...this year we have over 1,000 to give away!
We see this as an opportunity for the kids to pick out books that they would like to read...not just a book that they've been assigned to read. We hope that through this project we are able to encourage kids to learn to love reading...and maybe give them an appreciation for charity and giving along the way.
