"I Winned, I Winned Ashley!"

That's what Chalee exclaimed to me after she accepted her trophy at the Dibrell School Spring Pageant! She won overall in her division of the pageant!

Ok, so she was the only little girl in her division...but I like to think that when everyone heard that Chalee was going to be in the pageant, they just didn't show up because they knew that she was going to win!

She was wearing a cute pink sleeveless dress by Will Beth and we have dresses very much like this one for those of you who need a simple but elegant dress for the spring.

and just a couple more pics...here she is in her new Hello Kitty sunglasses that we gave her for being in the pageant. I think they compliment the dress great; don't you think?

Chalee and her "Aunt Henen"

And the dandelions are "fairies" to her...

Chalee and her proud daddy, Johnathan Womack.

Chalee can't figure out how to curtsy...but this is her attempting it!

Reducing, Reusing, Recycling...Our Shoes!

Do your Crocs look like this?Do you have a pile of worn-out Crocs underneath your bed, in your closet, in the mud room?
You all know that just like a performance tire, when the treads on your Crocs become worn, their slip-resistant nature will be compromised. That's when you know it's time to treat your feet to a new pair and now you don't have to worry about those worn-out pairs just laying around, going to waste.
You know that we are very into helping out with whatever good cause that we can...and we are trying to do our part to be 'green'...so, for those of you who haven't heard...We are now McMinnville's official drop-off point for recycled Crocs. Their SolesUnited program aims to collect all of those worn-out and yucky Crocs that you have laying around and to recycle them into brand new Crocs.
In addition to recycling the Crocs, for each pair of the recycled shoes that they sell they will donate a new pair of Crocs to someone in need (they have several groups around the world that they partner with to make this happen on a BIG scale).
All you need to do to help this cause is bring in your worn-out Crocs to the shop and we'll put them in our big SolesUnited bag...when the bag is filled we get to send it back to the Crocs Company and request another bag to fill. I've already got the bag half-way filled up ... and I have a whole school in Murfreesboro that is planning to collect worn-out Crocs as a service project and then send them back to the company through us!
I love that this program is giving us Crocs-wearers a chance to do our part and not feel bad about either throwing the shoes away or keeping them in the bottom of the closet forever...

Gigi's

Ok...If April Showers bring May Flowers...What do Mayflowers bring?

Pilgrims!!!!

Lol...but I guess it's really not the right season for that joke...lol.

Here, just in time for Spring is a very flowery little girl to show off one of our newer products.

Michelle texted me this picture of Gracie in her new Gigi's headband.

These adorable headbands (and hats) come in several different styles and colors and they are just too too cute on every little girl.
For those of you who like big bows on your baby girl, these are so adorable - all the way up to girls Gracie's age who have lots of hair!

Girls Mary Janes

Not 20 minutes after telling one of our customers that the pink Mary Janes would be in "any day now" Fed Ex brought them in!
Today apparently is any day!
So finally, we have girls Mary Janes sizes 4/5 - 3/5 in cotton candy, fuchsia and black.
Just in time for Spring! Call or Come by and get yours while we have them stocked!

'Till next season...

For those of you who haven't heard, we lost last night's game. The boys played really well, they're just so evenly matched with Detroit that it could have come out either way and by scoring first Detroit just got the upper hand.
The fans did not falter at all though...the rally towels were going the entire game just about, and almost everyone stayed for the final team salute to the fans and to hear the three stars of the game. Although, I'm sure stuff will happen over the summer that will have to be blogged about...but for now: See you next season Preds!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Let's go fly a kite!
Up to the highest height.
Let's go fly a kite,
And send it soaring,
Up through the atmosphere,
Up where the air is clear.
Oh, let's go fly a kite!
Let's go fly a kite!
-Burt 'Mary Poppins'

Haha...that song just makes me happy...maybe it's Dick Van Dyke's awful fake British accent in the movie Mary Poppins...but maybe it's just that the song makes me think SPRING!

Today was The Southern Standard's 11th annual Kite Day and it was the MOST PERFECT morning for flying kites! The sky was blue, the sun was shining and there was a nice breeze...add to that a whole bunch of kids and their kites and you have a great recipe for Kite Day!

I got to serve as a judge for the festivities today and it was so hard to pick favorites! But there were no losers today since everybody got the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather! Watch The Southern Standard in the days to come for details about the event.

I thought I'd share with you all some of the pictures I took this morning...Enjoy and I hope this inspires you to get out with your family this week and take in the spring!

(Jack Sherrill flying his kite...I love the look on his face; pure innocence!)

(Margaret Hobbs thanking the crowd for coming out and announcing the winners)
(Standard staffers posing in their Kite Day shirts...designed by Seth, of course!)

Hello Rose!

As you all know, we're big Preds fans at Ashley's Attic (lol...really?) and many of you know that we have Nashville Predators Crocs at the shop.

We were one of the first stores in all of Middle Tennessee to get these shoes because the shoes were introduced early last summer (right around the time of our ownership issues) and a lot of stores were scared to make that kind of investment on a team that might not be here next season.

I made that investment because I had faith that we would keep the team...Tennessee loves its Preds...and also because I figured that even if we just had one season left with them I wanted to make the best of it.

Well...fans were very nice and helped make that investment worth it; because the shoes were so hard to find anywhere in the state, people from all over the state were ordering Preds Crocs from our shop! Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga....A LOT of McMinnville Pred Fans came in...and of course we shipped several pair to Nashville.

One of those shipments found its way to Patty Pred, one of the team's most devoted fans and she loved them.

So I get a call from Patty a few weeks back and she tells me that Rose Tootoo wants several pair of the Preds Crocs...from me! Rose Tootoo, as in, Jordin Tootoo's MOM! HOW COOL IS THAT? TOOTOO'S MOM SHOPS AT ASHLEY'S ATTIC...all the way from RANKIN INLET!

And she is going to tell all of her friends about the shoes and hype up the website IN CANADA!! We're goin' international people!

(In the next week or so I will be posting a little box on the sidebar of the site to give the Preds Fans a little more info on the Predator Crocs and Jibbitz...also some shipping information for anyone wishing to order a pair...keep checking back.)

For all things Jordin Tootoo click here, just in case you don't know all about him already!

We all love Jordin at Ashley's Attic...even before his mom became a customer!

He's Chalee's favorite hockey player ever, you know...for those of you that I haven't told the story to (I even got the chance to tell Rose Tootoo an abbreviated version of the story!) :

Chalee loved her pacifier; she called it her "tootoo" (and this had nothing to do with Jordin...she didn't know the Preds just yet).
So, at her first hockey game (she was about 1 and a half years old) we took her down to the glass to watch the pre-game skate. I had bought her a "Tootoo" shirt because I figured it would be the easiest name for her to say and because the kids always love Jordin. I then pointed him out to her on the ice and she immediately locked in on him with her eyes, looked a little angry and confused, and would not take her eyes off of him. He even came up to the glass at one point to smile at her and she just looked at him. LOL...so, her mom informed me a little later that they had taken her "tootoo" away from her earlier in the week...she thought it was time.

Well, apparently Chalee did not agree and I know now that she must have thought that the "Tootoo" guy that I was talking about and pointing at must have taken her "tootoo" and THAT was why she looked so angry when she looked at him.

Chalee has gotten over that anger now. She now thinks of Tootoo with happy thoughts...she likes to see him fight and she likes Seth's 'Tootoo-Train Whistle' She has learned Shea Weber's name too and associates hockey and the Predator logo with "Weber and Tootoo". She calls her Tootoo shirt "The Hockey", as in; my mom: "You need to change back into your other clothes Chalee.", Chalee: "But I got the hockey on."!

Summer Crocs...

The kids' Athens are here...
They come in fuchsia/orange, black/charcoal, chocolate/lime, fuchsia/cotton candy, and chocolate/khaki. They are $24.99 and come in kids' sizes 6/7 through 3/5. Sizes 8/9 and 10/11 also come with a really great back-strap to help keep the shoes on little feet.
And that's not all...we also have restocked the classic Cayman Crocs (the ones with the holes)...yes finally I have 8's and 9's again!
We also restocked the kids' Real Tree Camouflage Crocs...
As always, come in or give us a call while supplies last...YOU KNOW how fast these shoes sell!

Always the Cheerleader...

Yeah yeah...we lost tonight.
BUT they really came through in that last period and they pushed the game in to overtime without the help of two of our main players, our captain Jason Arnott (flu) and David Legwand (hurt foot).
And hooray for Dan Ellis for breaking our previous record, keeping out 52 of tonight's 54 shots on goal!
Despite the loss, I'm still very proud of them all ...and we still have one chance to show the Wings who is the best in this series!

For the details on tonight's game click here.

High School Musical Jibbitz, Etc.

High School Musical Jibbitz!!! Finally! I told you that they were coming!
Also new are the flip-flop jibbitz. And back by popular demand are Spongebob and friends, butterflies in assorted colors, Hannah Montana, Dora and assorted tiny flowers....just in time for spring!
